NASA keeps finding mysterious tiny red objects at the edge of the observable universe — 12 billion light-years away. They're called "little red dots." So far, they have made no sense.
When the James Webb Space Telescope began scanning the early universe, astronomers started noticing them everywhere. Tiny. Red. Incredibly distant. Too bright to be ordinary galaxies. Too compact to fit any known category.
Hundreds of them… and no explanation.
Then NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory found one that changed everything.
This one had almost all the same features as the others — small, red, impossibly far away. But it was glowing in X-ray light.
Something no little red dot had ever done before.
That glow pointed to one thing… a growing supermassive black hole. One that existed when the universe was less than 2 billion years old.
This single object — sitting 11.8 billion light-years from Earth — may finally be the missing link. The key that unlocks what ALL of these mysterious little red dots actually are.
One tiny dot. A universe of answers.
