High-voltage undersea power cables are transforming how electricity moves between continents. Existing submarine interconnectors already connect Spain and Morocco, allowing electricity to flow across the Strait of Gibraltar. Even larger projects are planned, including the Xlinks Morocco–UK Power Project, which would transport renewable electricity generated by Moroccan solar and wind farms over nearly 4,000 kilometers of subsea HVDC cable. These advanced transmission systems reduce energy losses over long distances while helping countries share clean electricity, improve grid stability, and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. Undersea power links are becoming a key part of the global clean-energy transition.
