nuclear power is receiving renewed attention: The reported 15 reactors and roughly 12 GW of additional capacity

After years of slow growth in many markets, nuclear power is receiving renewed attention as countries search for reliable electricity with low operational carbon emissions.
New reactors coming online can provide large quantities of electricity around the clock, helping support grids that are increasingly incorporating variable sources such as wind and solar.
The reported 15 reactors and roughly 12 GW of additional capacity should be understood as a forecast or project pipeline figure because reactor schedules can change due to construction, testing and regulatory delays.
AI data centers are also adding another source of demand. Large computing facilities require enormous quantities of electricity and often operate continuously, making reliable generation particularly valuable.
As electricity demand rises, nuclear power is once again being viewed not as yesterday's technology — but as part of tomorrow's grid.
