Tesla's US Robotaxi fleet has crossed 1,000 vehicles for the first time, with tracking data showing 1,001 unsupervised cars currently in service out of 1,049 registered all time. The figures come from Robotaxi Tracker, an independent monitoring project that logs vehicle registrations, active service status and trip counts across Tesla's operating markets. The fleet now spans multiple cities including Austin, Dallas, Houston, the Bay Area and Miami, with the Bay Area and Austin showing the strongest concentrations. Growth has accelerated considerably in recent weeks as Cybercabs joined the fleet alongside the Model Y vehicles that carried the service through its early phase. Scale matters for what comes next. Tesla's VP of AI Ashok Elluswamy confirmed the fleet will move to FSD v15 next month, unlocking round-the-clock operation rather than the set hours currently in place across active markets. Sustaining 24/7 service requires enough vehicles to cover demand at every hour, which is precisely what fleet density delivers. For context, Nevada regulators recently approved Tesla to operate up to 5,000 vehicles in Clark County alone, suggesting the current figure represents an early stage rather than a ceiling.
