One of Earth’s strangest waterfalls!
Deep in Antarctica lies Blood Falls, a bright red waterfall flowing from the Taylor Glacier. The color comes from iron rich, hypersaline water that has been trapped beneath the ice for millions of years.
When the water reaches the surface, the iron reacts with oxygen and turns the stream a deep red. Because of its extreme salt content, the water does not freeze even in temperatures far below zero.
