Chinese battery giant CATL has begun mass-producing its first sodium-ion batteries, a breakthrough once considered decades away.
These batteries match lithium cells in size and performance but cost far less and can last up to 25 years.
They also perform well in extreme cold, making them ideal for harsh climates.
CATL plans to launch its next Naxtra line in 2025, which will increase energy density and expand use into heavy-duty trucks.
This advancement could reshape the EV and energy industries by reducing dependence on lithium.
It may also help power vehicles and grids worldwide more affordably and sustainably.
