Saudi Arabia is indeed planning to build a skyscraper that will surpass the Burj Khalifa's height, with a staggering price tag of $5 billion. The Rise Tower, designed by Foster + Partners, is expected to reach an incredible 2,000 meters (6,562 feet) high, making it more than double the height of Dubai's iconic Burj Khalifa ¹ ² ³.
This megaproject is part of Saudi Arabia's ambitious Vision 2030 plan to diversify its economy and establish itself as a global hub for innovation and business. The Rise Tower will be the centerpiece of the North Pole development, a 306-square-kilometer mixed-use district in Riyadh ³ ².
To put its massive scale into perspective, the Rise Tower will have 678 floors, housing luxury hotels, fine dining restaurants, observation decks, and high-end offices. It's expected to be a game-changer for Riyadh's skyline and a symbol of Saudi Arabia's engineering prowess ⁴ ².
Meanwhile, another Saudi Arabian project, the Jeddah Tower, is also making progress. Designed by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture, it's set to reach over 1,000 meters (3,281 feet) high, making it the world's tallest building upon completion, currently targeted for 2028 ⁵ ⁶ ⁷.
