The Pleiades, a bright star cluster visible to the naked eye, lies 450 light-years away and is around 100 million years old. It will likely last another 250 million years. An astrophotographer captured the Pleiades over Half Dome in Yosemite in October 2019, aided by an unexpected electrical blackout that darkened the sky, enhancing the view.
