Chinese battery maker Sunwoda has unveiled a new 15C LFP EV battery that can reportedly add around 100 km of range in just 1 minute.
The company says the battery can charge from 10% to 97% in only 9 minutes at room temperature, with 10% to 70% taking about 5 minutes.
Sunwoda also claims the battery can add around 700 km of range in 15 minutes even at -20°C, addressing one of the challenges of fast charging in cold weather.
The battery is designed to support ultrafast charging without limiting the number of fast-charge cycles during its 10-year or 300,000-km warranty.
If adopted by automakers, the technology could make some EV charging stops far closer to the time needed for conventional refuelling.
